When developing a product, I always prefer to start with the surest path: Solve your own problem first. If a bottleneck creates a loss of time for me and I can automate it, that solution will inevitably hold value for others, too.
As a multidisciplinary designer creating social media content for various brands, I decided to tackle the production process of carousel posts. Between research, copywriting, and establishing visual hierarchy, these posts consume a significant amount of time.
Today, I want to share the "automation prompt" I developed to speed up this process and standardize quality—and how it completely transformed my workflow.
Why Automation?
My goal isn't to kill creativity, but to reduce the operational load so I can create more space for creativity. Using AI as a strategic assistant to build a solid content strategy is the ultimate superpower of our time.
The Anatomy of a Successful Prompt
Instead of asking for random text, I built a structure that teaches the AI to think like the brand’s brain. Here are the non-negotiable components:
- Target Audience & Identity Analysis: First, I feed the AI details about who the brand is talking to. The AI must know its audience.
- The Curiosity Factor (Search Intent): I base my content on what people are actually searching for. The prompt structures the content around this "search intent."
- Readability & Hierarchy: Design isn’t just about looking good. I instruct the AI to adjust text lengths to ensure the design is scannable.
- Tone of Voice: Is the brand serious, friendly, or witty? I never skip this detail.
- Viral Hook Options: The prompt provides me with several "hook" options—opening lines with high viral potential.
- Few-Shot Learning (Examples): I provide the AI with successful content I’ve previously created as a reference to match my quality standard.
The Game Changer: From HTML to Figma
This is the most critical part. I don’t just ask the AI for text; I ask for HTML code.
Why? Because when I take this code and paste it into Figma (or use relevant plugins), the skeleton of the design is created in seconds. I no longer waste time creating text boxes or copy-pasting manually. All that’s left for me is the fun part: refining colors, images, and typographic details.
The Result: Speed and Efficiency
I am currently testing this system actively with the brands I manage. The results are massive:
- Research time is slashed.
- The design process is accelerated.
- The engagement-focused structure of the content is stronger.
I take these generated designs and give them a final human touch to polish them to perfection. This is just the first step in my journey to automate my own business. There is more to come.
